Yes, I take selfies.
Yes, I take a lot.
No, I don't care how many un-follows or un-friending happens because of it.
My social media feeds are flooded with my experiences.
They are flooded with moments I'm proud of.
Like this picture when I completed my 30 day Core De Force Workout from Beachbody!
My social media feeds are filled with,
Travel, eateries, after workouts, and the occasional lip pursed, red lipped smile.
Yeah, I do that.
Sometimes.
If that's the mood I'm in.
You see, selfies are an expression of yourself.
It means you're alive, connected, and in tune with yourself.
So many people never give themselves that gift.
The psychologists of today will tell you that selfies have led to bigger egos, more plastic surgery, and decreased body image of many women of our day, but I fear the alternative action.
I'm not here to judge you if you've had plastic surgery, act like a jerk with a big ego, or don't love what you see in the mirror,
But, I am here to tell you to express yourself.
Express yourself with no fear or need of anyone's approval or like count on a photo.
And no, you don't need a selfie to do that,
But never underestimate the value your smile, or your experience has on the world.
We are conditioned to focus on the negative.
"She's so annoying. Who does she think she is?"
You see that's the thing- she KNOWS who she is- and she isn't afraid to share it.
Many people never delve into finding out who they really are,
What they really want,
And what they want their life to look like.
Many people don't even know what makes them happy,
And they live their life disconnected from themselves and others.
They simply imitate what others are doing, or they coast on autopilot,
And their unhappiness leads to insecurity or judgement of others.
I don't want that for you.
It's freeing to get to that moment when you just LIVE.
And you stop to think, maybe this photo will inspire someone else,
To hit the gym, take the trip, to paint their lips red.
But that starts with not being afraid to share YOU, exactly as you are.
You are not responsible for other people's interpretation of you.
SO BE YOU and SMILE.
The world needs more of it!
