Why Passion Projects Fail

Why Passion Projects Fail

Having a passion project seems to be a buzz I'm hearing a lot of lately.

People want to escape their 9-5.

They want to find happiness.

But what I think people really crave is purpose.

A passion project is defined as something you work on,

Outside of your chosen career path,

That gives you satisfaction and puts you in a state of flow.

And a state of flow means you are fully immersed and happy.

But what happens when you just aren't feeling it?

What happens when things don't go to plan and you aren't in the state of flow?

My last business trip to California was HARD.

I should have been excited to brainstorm with other entrepreneurs from around the world,

With breath-taking views of the ocean right outside my window,

And learning from the #1 motivational and personal development guru in the world,

But I wasn't.

I wasn't feeling good enough.

I wasn't feeling like I was making the global impact that I want.

You can talk about passion projects all day long, but if you don't have a REAL, TANGIBLE sense of purpose,

Then you're screwed when these moments hit.

I had a one day break in between my first conference and the second, and I almost got on a plane to go home.

When I don't feel enough, it's my gut instinct to run.

But I chose to stay because of one reason,

And that's my son.

My mission is to help women get the body they want and the business they want,

So they can raise confident kids in a happy home.

Your environment is everything.

And I know he's watching.

He's watching the choices that I make,

The way I talk to myself,

How I interact with my hubby (his dad)

How happy I choose to be.

And if all of that is dependent on projects, or businesses, or goals,

Then I'm set up in a completely unstable and volatile scenario.

Because some days we fall short, some days we miss our goals, things don't do to plan.

That's life,

But what are you going to do about it?

I had a critical decision to make, and in the end I chose to stay.

Staying and not going home, was choosing my son, because I came back a better mom.

A better business women.

A better wife.

And now two weeks later, when I see my name online with the Huffington Post, talking empowerment and purpose,

I'm proud.

People think success is gifted, or luck, or catching good breaks.

It's staying true to your purpose, your path, and the bigger picture.

It's not about you.

It never was.

So I ask you, what's your tangible purpose?

Why do you make the choices you do?

And who does it impact?
