"And.... Go Cook Your Ass Off!"
Has anyone else been binge watching this show?
They take America's favourite comfort foods: Mac and Cheese, Pizza, Spaghetti and Meatballs, Chips, Grilled Cheese,
And compete by making healthier versions.
(Sometimes with mystery foods they have to use that I can't even pronounce.)
I won't spoil who the winner is if you haven't watched it to the end, but the finale got me thinking.
Authenticity and Attachment.
Those are two words that are part of every entrepreneurs vocabulary.
And when the competitive spirit kicks in, look out.
No one says,
"I'm going to be really authentic here, listen to what I say or watch what I do."
They just do it!
When the clock ticks down (they have 20 min to make a snack and 30 min to make meals).
These chefs don't have time to putz around thinking. They act!
And that's a result of knowing who they are and knowing what they can do.
In business, that's why it's so important to know yourself.
That's more important than you avatar or offer or your slide deck.
Because just like the mystery foods, life is unpredictable.
You have to know your frameworks, mission statement, and what solutions you deliver so that when called upon, you can do just that.
I've been applying to speak on various stages across the world and when that phone rings or email comes in,
I'll be ready.
I've been practicing my story, physicality, and critical steps every day.
I'm not wasting time questioning if I'm good enough, know enough, or sound stupid.
That trash talking wastes time. I'd rather spend that practicing.
And then lastly...
Attachment. Or should I say lack there of!
I love what the winner said.
"I'm just gonna cook like I know how to cook and that's it."
Detachment and un-attachment aren't the same thing.
The chef won because she was unattached to the outcome.
Detachment is
"I'm taking my ball and going home. I don't want to play with you."
Un-attachment is
"I'm gonna play and have fun, regardless of what anyone else says or does."
I want you to play in your business and your life.
Deep positivity is knowing it's all going to be OK no matter what, because you've decided it so.
