"What's in it for me?"
"What the return on investment (ROI)?"
These are questions we ask both personally and professionally.
And they are good questions.
We're hesitant to give.
We've all been burned.
Whether's it losing money.
A broken heart.
Or time wasted.
We've all felt the pain of a plan gone wrong in different areas of our life.
And the reality is, now more than ever,
We've got options and we get to be selective about what and who we say "yes" to.
But what if there was a different way of looking at it.
What if we didn't have to build walls, cross our fingers, or hope that our next launch or time invested in a project/person pays off?
It got me thinking about generosity.
What if we stopped asking what our ROI was and starting looking at our ROG.
Return on Gratitude.
A few weeks ago I was able to attend a business conference, and after a few chats with the event producer on LinkedIN,
She gave me a 25% off code for a ticket. I passed on that same code to my peers and few people went to the conference.
When I met her at the day, she introduce me to another event producer,
"This is Lisa.. She has a big following and she even brought people to our event. She's going to speak next year. I'm sure you have some events for her to speak at too."
Generosity goes a long way.
I landed the opportunity to speak without even asking.
