"Give me two tips about websites; what makes a good one stand out?"
Websites? That's my husbands jam!
Now don't get me wrong, I love to write the story, the content, the about pages.
I geek out about helping clients answer "who they are, what they do, and what result they get their clients."
But websites?
This was the question the on air TV host asked me during our interview this past weekend.
"1. It has to be written in the mind of the customer. It's not about US, it's about THEM. They need to see that you can help them. They don't care about our fancy degrees or accomplishments. They care about why you, why them, why now.
2. It has to have SO MUCH value, free opt ins, content marketing. People want to date you a bit before they go deeper. SO get them good quality content.. and make sure it's pretty.. and fast!"
I kinda shocked myself. Those were really good answers!
You ever do that? You almost surprise yourself with what you know?
Many newbie entrepreneurs worry about that imposter syndrome.
"Are people going to figure out that I don't know what the hell I'm doing?!"
If you've ever said that, don't worry.
I'm 5 years in, and I still have moments like that.
But the reason I can answer well and not get thrown by ANY questions is because I practice so much.
It's not about being perfect, but it's about being proficient in WHAT YOU DO KNOW.
I study and keep up with websites, funnels, FB ads, content marketing, sales psychology, heart-centered leadership.
I invest thousands in mentor and conferences, but most importantly,
I APPLY what I learn EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. (Podcasts, blogs like this, you tube videos, live videos).
Even when a client asks for "Just strategy and content from me," or " Just tech, lead generation, website" from my husband,
We both show up on calls.
Because we are deepening our learning and proficiency.
It's not about being perfect.
Customers, listeners, PEOPLE connect with real people, who fumble, and stumble and get tripped up, but also people who know their stuff.
So stop hoarding. Books, conferences, mentors, calls.
Start applying. Experience is your best teacher.
