Before I became a business strategist, I was an ICU Nurse and End of Life Care Nurse.
I've saved many people from death and I've helped people die with dignity.
When our time comes, we truly are stripped down into the shell of body.
I've seen that first hand.
All of our worries, fear, anger, regret, material possessions, degrees, it doesn't really matter.
What matter is how we've lived and how we've loved.
Health, wealth, and happiness.
They seem to be the eternal quest.
But what if we could have that right now?
What if we didn't have to wait until..I'll be happy when.. I'll be healthy when.. I'll be wealthy when....
My Pop Pop was a coal miner.
In the summers when I was about my son's age now, 5, my pop pop used to take me on walks 2 blocks from where he lived.
To the playground and the pool.
He put out his BIG hands and we walk and talk.
As soon as I'd get lost in the conversation, he'd throw a penny on the ground and he's say
"Lisa, look over there!"
I'd snatch up that penny thinking I hit the jackpot.
"Lisa, look! Over there."
I'd snatch up penny, after quarter, after nickel, and dime.
In that moment I felt like the happiest, healthiest, and wealthiest 5 year old in the world!
Whether you're just starting out in life or at the end of your life, perspective and your environment are everything.
1. If you want health, you have to be willing to make some swaps.
For me it was books instead of Netflix, water in place of wine, veggies for pasta, and wealth friends instead of wish friends.
2. Categorize your friends and plan accordingly.
They way I see it I have three buckets of friends.
First, I have my wishful friends.
They may be people I grew up with, used to be close friends, or maybe those I just casually know and want to keep that way.
I wish them well once a year or in passing and that's where it stays.
Next are my wandering friends.
These are friends that I want to run into more, but life calls us apart. Work, kids, travel.
But when our schedules do align, it's like we never left each other. Some of those interactions are the best.
Lastly, I have my wealth friends.
These are my everyday people. I share my most intimate thoughts, goals, plans. Real struggles. These are my 2am calls if necessary.
Thank goodness I've never had to call at 2am, but if I did, they'd be there.
It's freeing when you start spending your time how you want, with who you want, and you still love on everyone.
3. Create your I AM list.
I am a fierce mamma bear when I have to be.
But I'm also a soulful lover and supporter.
I'm a hustler who gets thing done.
But I also know when to celebrate.
I'm a strong, independent woman, but I also love being taken care of.
I'm learning how to let people help me.
We spend so much of our time thinking what we are not.
Slim enough, strong enough, happy enough, rich enough.
What if everything you've ever wanted is inside of you?
What if you stopped searching and started celebrating?
Swap, bucket, and create your list.
And if you need help, there's where a strategy call comes in.
