Reach Your Clients! How to Develop the Ultimate Email Marketing Strategy

We all know the feeling of putting in 100% and receiving no results. You spend hours and hours perfecting your blog post, marketing email, or social media post, and nothing.

No response. No likes. And, minimal results.

So, what's the problem? The problem usually is you need a better marketing strategy. This is especially true when it comes to creating an email marketing strategy.

Sending an email to your customers or followers seems easy enough, right? You just write what you need to say and push send. Many people think it is that easy, but don't consider an email marketing strategy before pushing the send button.

Ready to get better results for your marketing emails? Read on to find out 5 key elements you need in your email marketing strategy.

1. Understand Your Audience

Before you craft any emails, get to know your audience. Create a profile of your target audience and keep these characteristics at the forefront of your mind.

You should also consider segmenting your target audience based on their characteristics or behaviors. For example, segment by demographics or by purchases they've made.

This will help you to understand what your customers are interested in, how to speak to them, and what needs you can meet for them.

2. Test Your Subject Lines

Your email subject line can make or break your marketing email. Simply put, people can smell spam from a mile away. And, if they feel like your email is spammy, expect it to be sent to the trash ASAP.

That is if the email even gets through your customer's email service's spam filters.

For this reason, avoid spammy subject lines like "Save Big Money."

Instead, test your subject lines in advance. Use A/B subject line testing to determine which one works best for your audience.

3. Create Compelling Content

Content is king. And, people don't want to just be sold one product after the other. They want to receive value.

They want to be educated and to understand your business better. For this reason, you should avoid sending your customers emails that are all about a product or service. Instead, send your customers information they can actually use and leave them wanting more.

You can then lead them back to your website or online store by using a Call to Action statement.

4. Track Customer Behavior

Before sitting down to write your email, study your customers further. Use your website analytics to see what customers are interested in and to learn more about their shopping behavior.

Then use this information to create personalized emails to your target audience segments.

5. Be Consistent

Create an email marketing schedule and branding your customers can rely on. But, avoid sending them too many emails. Focus on sending at most one promotional email per week.

You may want to send less or more depending on your customers and the nature of your business. Use your analytics, "unsubscribes", and customer feedback to determine what works best for your company.

Perfecting Your Email Marketing Strategy

Learning how to create an email marketing strategy is an excellent first step. But, after that, it's time to put it into action and perfect it. And, you don't ever need to do this alone.
